Tell People What You Do

Tell people what you do. If people don’t know you or don’t know what you do, they can’t do business with you.
Below are some ways to help tell people what you do;
- Post – start posting what you do on social media
- Email list – start an email list and periodically update your contacts on what you are doing
- Tell people – tell people in your social circles what you are doing and what you are up to
- Educate Others – start educating others for free. You can start a meet-up group, webinars, blog, podcast, or use another means to help others learn
Why do I share this story with you?
I’ve heard the following statement over and over again from attending many different conferences. “If people don’t know you or know what you do, they can’t do business with you.” I interviewed Mike Vann, a multifamily investor, on episode 10 of the podcast. On the podcast, Mike shared a story where he told a bank president he was friendly with that he was looking for a multifamily property to purchase. It was not long after when Mike got a call from a broker about a deal that he ended up buying. The broker received his name from that bank president. If Mike did not share with the bank president what he was looking for, he most likely would not have bought that property which resulted in a big financial gain for Mike. Tell people what you do and see how others may help in bringing you business.
